Lil' Masterpiece Necklace Designed by Your Lil' Artist

Sarah Elbert came up with the idea of her Lil’ Masterpiece necklaces when she saw her niece’s artwork on her sister’s fridge. She felt that the drawings were absolutely adorable and wanted to come up with a way to keep some of them forever. She started experimenting with her Precious Metal Clays and found a method that transfers the actual drawing onto the surface of precious metals. Her first Lil’ Masterpiece necklace was lovingly made for her sister. After her sister received so many comments on her pendant, the Lil’ Masterpiece line was born. Sarah started appreciating children’s artwork as she began working with many different lil’ artists, creating one-of-a-kind keepsake necklaces for mothers, grandmothers and aunts.

Sarah offered to make me my very own Lil’ Masterpiece necklace. Since I have two lil’ artists, Sarah made mine reversible. I knew exactly which pieces I wanted to have on such a personal memento. My youngest daughter, Adanna loves butterflies. She puts one in almost every picture she draws. Hanging in my kitchen was one of my favorites. Thea, my seven year old, has a connection with mermaids. She has them swimming with fish and dolphins or through seaweed, but the one I chose was of a mermaid waving. I scanned the art and sent it to Sarah.

She sent back several images of different shapes and borders for the pendant and together we came up with the perfect one. Done in sterling silver (although she can do other metals) with a delicate sterling silver chain is probably one of the most memorable Mother’s Day gifts I have ever received. I wear it proudly everyday and love telling people (who ask) that it was designed by my two favorite artists; my daughters (with a little help from Sarah).

Lil’ Masterpiece necklaces make the perfect Mother’s Day gift and for Father’s Day, Sarah can make Lil’ Masterpiece keychains. It does not matter how old your child is, because no matter what their age their art deserves to be close to your heart rather than on the fridge.
