I’m grateful for my life. I live a life of passion. Each morning I jump out of bed and look forward to my day – even the uncomfortable moments.

How do you feel when you wake up? Do you jump out of bed or are you lingering hoping for a snow day in July? The summer months are a perfect time to reflect and to determine which new direction you would like to take your life.

My first career was in marketing and public relations. I had a great job working for a great company. I worked with my best friend, in a home office where it was filled with laughter and joy. I hated every moment of it. Now, that I look back, it wasn’t so much what I was doing but how I was feeling. I was angry and felt as if I wasn’t “good enough”. This feeling would create situations that would reflect this belief in myself, so each day I was creating struggle for myself. How did I go from struggle to where I am now? It is very simple. I began to love myself and connect with my inner guidance to create the life that I desired.

When someone first said that I needed to love myself in order to change my life, I believe I rolled my eyes. What a cliché. It came down to practicalities for me. What did I really have to lose by opening up to loving myself? I couldn’t feel any worse than I did, so I began my journey. I’m going to share some tips with you on how I began my journey of self-discovery, self-love and listening to my Soul to create a life that I adore.

What is the loop in your head saying?

I would bet that your inner critic can be harsh and without compassion for yourself. In fact, some of those statements that you repeat over and over again to yourself, you wouldn’t say to another human being.

For today, notice the theme of the inner critic. A couple of themes are: not enough (which shows up as not good enough, not enough time, not enough money, etc), fear of failure, trust (which shows up as not trusting yourself and others).

Taking the next step to love

I suggest that you write down all the reasons why you are loveable and of value in the world. The statement should be written like this: I am _____________. Here are some examples:

I am kind
I am a good listener
I am a creator of good ideas

We are going to call these statements, “LOVE statements.”

Putting it all together

Now, when you are noticing the inner critic chatter, pause and pull out one of your LOVE statements and repeat it to yourself three times. I suggest you carry them around with you in a beautiful pouch or leave them on your desk at work in a lovely box.
What you are doing by utilizing the love statements is you are creating a new pattern in your head, which will create new feelings, which will create new choices, which will create a new life that you love!

Please feel free to reach out to me with question, comments or to share your LOVE statements.
