Making Painted Jars: From Juno Magazine

Picture
I have been feeling very crafty lately, especially as I have been making things in preparation for the Salford Angels WI trade fair in October. So with me getting my crafty self on lately, I wanted to try something different, something I could display in my home and that would give me the chance to use some recycled materials, so I had a go at these recycled painted jars from the Juno Magazine Spring Extra Craft Special
The jars were very easy to paint and the method easy to follow, although it is important that you stick to it. I tried using regular poster paint instead of acrylic and found that it didn't stick to the sides of the jar in the same way. I have painted this red one so far and am thinking of doing a couple of white ones (perhaps experimenting and adding some glitter to paint to see if it turns out.)

I thought the red was a lovely Christmas type of colour, especially when sitting next to this Christmas card that I have made for the trade fair. This gave me the idea of adding some silver elements to the jar and turning it into a perfect Christmas decoration for my mantle piece. I wanted to add silver snowflake stickers, but couldn't find any so settled with these heart outlines from The Range. Still, I am happy with the results. I being a little early I know what with it being July, but that's how it works if you're planning on selling crafts near Christmas.

I am very happy with how my jar has turned out and can't wait to make more. The method can be found in the Juno Magazine Spring Extra Craft Special and also in the Spring 2016 issue (issue 43) ofJuno Magazine
