March Madness - SAHM Project - Entry Eight

The month of March. I had never found anything particularly exciting
about this span of 31 days that takes up space once a year. Sure, there
is St. Patrick's day, a really neat celebration, especially for those
of us of Irish decent. But aside from that, March has always just been
there.

My view on March has changed a bit.

For some reason, the month of March has been ordained as a extremely
important month in my life. For the last two years, March has held the
most highly anticipated and exciting events to grace my existence.

March 2008. I was hired as an Academic Advisor at a major
University. My first "big girl" job. Enough money to get an apartment.
Things were looking incredibly fantastic. Life after my degree was
beginning and I was feeling pretty good to not be working as a cashier
somewhere like some of my fellow graduates. How did I get so lucky?

This was also the month during which I took my first trip overseas. I
traveled far and saw the sights of Greece, an intriguing country with
an amazing past and a very busy future. Yes, my extrication from my
homeland was a magnificent experience, and one I will never forget. But
a note to the city of Athens, Greece...if you're going to have
protests, neglecting to pick up your trash is not the best way to
symbolize your indignation. Who really benefits when everyone is
surrounded by poop and trash? That is what I call a lose, lose situation, no matter the outcome.
