Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

Mother of the Bride Guide

The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

So I know I have been totally MIA for a month. I'm terribly sorry, life just seems to hit you all at once. On top of extra school work, because of the Christmas season coming up I've had to take on more hours at work. Plus my husband went out of town, first for a doctors appointment, now he's been gone for almost two weeks doing some work on a house, leaving me to run everything myself.

It sure has been stressful. I never realized how much just having that other person there to rely on makes such a huge difference. Because I've definitely bitten off more than I chew without him-or some kind of support network-here. I'm running two businesses (at the busiest time of year for mine), working outside the home, driving to and from the babysitters twice a day, keeping the house clean, walking the dog, and trying to keep my child and myself relatively happy.

Being a single parent is a tough job, and those of you who do it out of necessity are my heroes, and you deserve way more credit than I can give. I think a lot of my griping about being a single parent the past few weeks, has been because I don't have that many good friends here, I have a couple acquaintances and some people I'm getting to know better as time goes on, but I also have no family. My nearest family (my in-laws) live in New Brunswick, and all of my family is from Saskatchewan! All my closest friends are all scattered throughout western Canada.

But we chose to come here, and we're trying to make the best of it. Plus we've only been here for 18 months, it takes longer than that to build lasting relationships I think. I've started to change my attitude a lot. I was kind of snobby when I first came here. It was just such a culture shock, coming from the progressive, fast-paced, changing-daily lifestyle of Vancouver to the slower-moving, maybe a little behind the times small-town feeling here in Cape Breton. But we're getting used to life here, and starting to enjoy our community more and more, which my little brown eyed girl is loving!

Speaking of my little one...she turned 2 on November 13th!! Phew, time sure flies. It feels like yesterday I was reading that Clear Blue test telling me I was 2-3 Weeks....then I blinked. And I have the most independent, funny, smart and beautiful little toddler.

We have some huge changes coming to my store. The first of which has been the launch of a new line of carriers, Chusta. They are made in Poland by the same people who make one of our diaper lines and I gotta say, these wraps are a-may-zing. Not even because I sell them, I love them. I use the wool wrap every time we go out somewhere. On top of it being the most comfortable wrap I've used, it's SO easy to get on and it looks so good. I have the cream colored one and it looks super cute when paired with my red peacoat!

Anyway, just a quick update about how things have been going. My husband will be home soon, and things will start getting back to normal, blogging included! Stay tuned for a more in depth review of my Chusta Wool Wrap on Monday!!
