Could this be the first Republican politician that has said publicly that he doesn't want Obama to fail? In an interview yesterday on Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulos gave Mike Huckabee a chance to promote his new book, A Simple Government, and to reveal his intentions on running for president in the 2012 election. In the interview, Huckabee stated that he thinks Obama will be tough to beat. After all, in modern times, every president except Carter and Bush Sr. has served two terms.
According to the latest polls, Huckabee is the Republican front runner and he's likely to announce his candidacy this summer. In his book, he comes down hard on fellow Republicans for wasting time on extraneous issues which do nothing to further the ball down the field. He also stated that even though he disagrees with most of Obama's policies, he supports and respects his president. He encourages others to so the same because if Obama fails, then so does the country.
Sounds good now. We'll see if he maintains a civil tone come election time or if he'll sink down into the gutter like most candidates do.
