Molly is missing and my mother-in-law is heartbroken. Molly is her baby and has been her constant cmpanion for the past five years. For an older woman, who lost her husband, lives alone and recently retired, Molly is more than just a dog, she is part of her family, her best friend. Molly is home with her 24 hours a day, to keep her company, to cuddle with and to talk to if she gets lonely. My mother in law wakes up every Sunday and makes Molly scrambled eggs for breakfast. They spend the morning relaxing, reading the paper and soaking up lots of dog pets and dog kisses.
For anyone who has a fur-baby, you know how very special they are. What is simply unebelievable is that someone stole Molly. Last week mom let her out back because it was such a beautiful, sunny day, and 30 minutes later Molly was gone. My mother-in-law's yard is surrounded by a very secure chain link fence. A careful check of the entire fence line confirmed that there was no way for Molly to get out. Someone just decided to take her.
Neighbors reported seeing some teenage boys walking a dog that fits Molly's description and daily phone calls to every single shelter have turned up nothing. My husband drove from our home in NC to Buffalo and just called to tell me that mom can't even talk about Molly without her eyes filling with tears or starting to cry. She is simply devestated.
I know that a week is a long time. I know that Molly might be gone forever; but I can't help holding out some hope that maybe, just maybe, the person who took her might be motivated by money. Pretty sad huh? Pretty sad that I think that by offering a reward of $250.00 for the safe return of Molly, with "no questions asked", the person who took her might bring little Molly home and bring a smile to mom's face.
I don't know why people are so cruel or what motivates them to do such horrible things. I don't understand why someone would hurt my mother-in-law this way? She doesn't deserve it. I'm pretty angry but I'm determined to try and channel my anger and instead, send positive thoughts and prayers for Molly's safe return.
Until next time...
