When you hear the word "balm" it should trigger other words in your head like one-for-all, multi-tasking awesomeness, and untouchable.  Have you found a balm that does that?  I've found great alternatives to even my favorite petrolatum products (like Aquaphor- seems there's nothing it can't do), including Burt's Bees Res-Q Ointment which I discussed here.  Usually a balm comes in a small tube or tin for easy travel, but it's even cooler because only using a tiny dab can do wonders.  Wonders, and then some.

I've found lip balms that can double as face balms, bug-bite, and scrape balms, hand and diaper-rash-soothing balms, but none of them have been all organic. Other balms containing organic calendula (skin soother extraordinaire aka the field marigold) usually contain some other chemicals like cetyl alcohol (hello California Baby Calendula Cream).  Once I received my first sample of the Honest Company's Honest Healing Balm- I was hooked!  It even bears the USDA Organic certified (National Organic Program) label.  That's a new one to me in balm products that you can't find in the face cream aisle.

Honest Balm has been used for diaper rash, bug bites, chapped lips, cooking burns, face blemishes, cat scratches, dry skin patches, paper cuts, drool-face irritations (that's a technical term, yes), and countless skin irritations that come with having sensitive Hispanic-Asian skinned kids.  And that's *just* in my family!

Good: Multi-tasking uses- the perfect one-for-all.  All organic ingredients and officially certified.  Purse and pocket-toting size, for any on the go mom or family.  One tube will last you a long while, because you only need a tiny amount.

Bad: And this is a kicker: it's not available in stores.  At first, it was only available to those who signed up for the Honest Co.'s subscribe & save program choosing the Family Essentials bundle, but they've now opened a store and you can purchase it separately.  No other manufacturer has it for sale; you buy directly from the source.

Price: $12.95 from Honest.com.  You might take a pause and think that's a high price for such a small tube.  This tube will last you months and months!  And every member of your family will use it. I've already asked them, and have been wishing, that they'd make the smaller sample sizes available for purchase so I can buy a few and pass them on to my good mom friends!

An aside: When I started using this healing balm on myself, I had a "My Big, Fat, Greek Wedding" moment. I felt like the dad, Gus Portakalos, who recommended putting Windex on everything and Toula and Ian even try it out on their zits before the big wedding.  I digress... my point being, I haven't found anything it doesn't work for!  I might have to pop that movie in soon just for laughs.

What's your favorite balm?  What do you use it for?  Does it have any organic ingredients?
