Our first trip to the Miami Zoo (Zoo Miami)

Finally had a chance to experience a Florida zoo since moving to the south in 2007. Had coupons for Zoo Miami (formally Miami Metro Zoo) that expire at the end of the year and with the super low total it ends up being for a family of 4, we figured we may as well use it. For most of the large animals, it seemed as if there were only one or two of each type, but I guess there's a method to their madness.

The animals seemed very relaxed and well taken care of, most of them just laying around. None of them were noisy or active even with all the noise around them. I saw some animals I never even heard of, like something really ugly that looked like a cross between lizard and alligator statue. There were cute little duck babies and gorillas posing like bikini models. We even saw a Rhino in heat (that was hilarious!!!). We would've stayed longer but our evening was interrupted by thunder, lightening and a downpour.
