Outdoor Entertaining – Keeping It Cool

By Audrey van Petegem, Chief Editor

Keeping it Cool 2July 4th weekend is the official sign of backyard BBQspicnics in the park and “glamping” (We Succulent Wives are all about glamorized camping).

It is not easy staying cool in the heat of the summer when outdoors. One way is keeping our food cool and our drinks refreshing.

Below is a list of “cool” products to make outdoor entertaining more pleasant but also, shall we say, more stylish:

Super Chill Insulated Bowls Insulated Bowls - Buffet style and pot luck are always the best way to entertain outdoors. The problem is that the food can stay out for hours. Keeping it in the shade is fine but still after a half hour the lettuce starts to wilt and the potato salad gets a nasty discoloration while warming. These insulated bowls are not only practical but beautiful. They are double walled stainless steel that will stay chilled for a couple of hours. Simply put them in the freezer before using. Buy at Frongate for $80.00.
Vino 2 Go Wine Tumblers Vino 2 Go - Sipping cups are not just for kids. These no spill tumblers are perfect for back yard entertaining and picnics. The double walls keeps warm hands off the wine so that it stays cooler longer. Buy from Amazon for $23.00 for a set of two.
Chillsner Beer Cooler Chillsner - Nothing is worse than a warm beer. Keep it cool with a Chillsner. Made from the same company that brought us the corksicle. It feels like drining through a cool straw. Ahhhh! Cool to the last sip. Buy directly from Corksicle for $29.95 for two.
Wine Sac Wine Sac - Boxed wine rise in popularity has created some very cool and practical accessories. This wine Sac transports your wine safely while keeping it fresh. The roomy interior has space for three ice packs to keep wine chilled for hours. Buy from Uncommon Goods for $77.00.
YayLabs Ice Cream Maker YayLabs Play and Freeze Ice Cream Ball - For the kids. Let them play ball while making ice cream. Just add ice and rock salt in one end and ice cream mix in the other. Have them shake, pass, and roll it around for 15 minutes. Voilà, dessert is ready. Ok, this also can be for grownups. Buy from Amazon for $37.00.

Is it hot in here? Not anymore!
