Thirty-two years ago, I became a licensed driver, one of many pubescent teenagers let loose on the highways and byways of our great nation. In Illinois in 1979, driver’s education was still offered in school and every student was required to take the class. For the first quarter of my sophomore year, I sat in a classroom filled with students whose 16th birthdays were quickly approaching.
