As a parent, I have been judged so many times I have lost count. It starts in the grocery story line or in an airplane. As the kids kick the back of your seat or scream through the entire flight, your anger and frustration is not necessarily focused on the child, but at the parents.

As a parent of a child with reactive attachment disorder (RAD), the parental judgment reaches higher levels. Now the judgment doesn’t come from strangers, but from friends and family. “Why can’t you manage your child?” “What is the big deal, I raised two by myself, why can’t you?” And my particular favorite, “There is nothing wrong with this child, so what is wrong with you?”
