Patriotic Painting with Edible Paint for Babies and Toddlers!

I wasn't going to do this project because my poor baby has been so sick the last few days. I am glad I decided to go through with it though because it was the first time in several days that she seemed happy.

I wanted to do an art and craft with Isabella for the 4th of the time but at her age we are still really limited on what we can do. I have done finger painting with her and it was a huge hit, so when I saw this star cookie cutter painting from No Time For Flashcards, I knew it was something I wanted to try.

I decided to try out some Greek Yogurt Paint for this project.

You can find the tutorial for Quick 'n Easy Greek Yogurt Paint here

This activity
-Builds creativity
-Teaches shapes and colors
-Builds fine motor skills
-Sensory experience

For this activity you need
-Paint (I used Greek Yogurt Paint)
-Paper
-Star shaped cookie cutter
-Construction paper for the background
-Glue

I put some of the paint into some small bowls for easy access. I showed her how to use the cookie cutter to make stars.

She got the hang out it and dipped it in the paint

She liked to take globs of paint and paint the stars

We talked about stars and the colors red and blue.

She had to taste it, of course!

Fun! Fun! Fun!

Warning- Do not do this activity before snack or meal time or you may have this...

After painting, let their artwork dry and then glue it on to construction paper!

This was seriously so fun! She had a blast and was laughing and smiling which she hasn't done in days since she has been so sick.

TIPS:
-Use a mess mat (I use a shower curtain liner from the dollar store) for super easy cleanup.
-Do this activity right before bath time because it is messy!
