Potty training is extremely important to me right now since it's hard buying diapers for two. My daughter turns 3 in December and it's taking awhile for her to get potty trained. I understand that when big changes happen in their life, sometimes it sets them back like a new baby or my husband and I getting separated. She has maybe an occasional accident once or twice every couple days. I have read about the 2-3 day potty training boot camp but that involves a lot of time and with a colicky baby and maintaining the house, it's just too hard.

Many forums I have read all say to have the child either wear no underwear/pull-ups, or just wear underwear. I have my daughter in underwear from the moment she wakes up but during her nap she does wear a pull-up and definitely at night. I feel like she can do this potty training but I feel like as soon as I take her out to a store, a family party, a play date, etc, that she'll have an accident and she is very sensitive and embarrassing her is the LAST thing I want to do. I want her to start preschool soon as well but obviously she has to be potty trained. She also has 3 cousins who are 3 months younger than she is and 1 of them is potty trained, 1 is in the process, and 1 I'm not entirely sure of. They all do not have any brothers or sisters like my Lilia does.

I decided to just spend this week trying to potty train her. On Saturday, we have a family party to go to and I will test out how ready she is and follow up. This is my strategy:

My daughter LOVES cookies, movies, books, coloring books, band aids, outfits, nail polish, and candy. So I decided to get a large dry and erase board and create a potty chart. Whenever she uses the potty with my help she gets a check, when she uses it on her own she gets a star, when she pees on the floor that is an X and when she's napping or doesn't go during the time period she just gets a O. By the end of the week, starting at 15 stars, she will get an award depending on how many stars she gets. She also loves to write on the board so I figured she can make her own marks. I also do give her a cookie when she poos on her own.

What do you think of my plan? Is it fool proof?

What were the methods you tried? Did they work? Did you try any popular methods that just had no results at all?

My mother-in-law trained my daughter with a box of Tic-Tacs.  No charts, no pressure.  Just keep bringing her to the toilet and relax.  It will happen when she's ready.  Sorry, but that's the truth.
