Ok, so for Christmas my 6 year old decided what he really wanted was for his bedroom to look more mature. His words, "my room is too babyish". As mentioned in a previous post, he gave his little brother a bunch of toys he felt he grew out of and since he is 6, we both agreed the Shamrock Green Crayola color was a bit outdated. So we went for a more Olive/Asparagus mix!
One of the gifts he received was a really cool item I found online. I was sick and tired of replacing those cheaply
made Nerf over-the-door basketball hoops and dumb foam balls (they seriously suck!!!), so when I saw the arcade
style MD Sports Wireless Basketball Hoops and Scoreboard online at Kmart for $19.99, I had to order it! Get this,
instead of cardboard, it's made out of WOOD!!! Finally!!! Also, it's wireless, includes an away and home hoop
(trust me, the "away" and "home" factors matter), and the wireless scoreboard actually keeps count, correctly!
Now, let me jump to the reason for this review....
After I painted my son's room, I couldn't wait to put everything back into its place, and add his new gifts. So after a few days of letting the paint fully dry, I decided it was time to assemble the hoops on the wall. The hoops and the scoreboard need batteries to work, but I didn't mind that because I'm sure this item won't drain the batteries. I have a stock of AA, C and D batteries, but I couldn't find any darn AAA batteries which is the type the hoops take. Geez, I looked in every remote control I have in this house, and only the darn ceiling fan remote uses AAA batteries.
I was in a hurry to try this, so after a week of forgetting, I went to a store and bought batteries. When we returned home, the "away" hoop was not working. Damn it!!! I contacted Kmart to have it replaced, and although they were ready to oblige, they asked me to send it in its original packaging. Original packaging, who keeps original packaging weeks later for small items? I went online to their web site trying to gather information for the manufacturers, and I couldn't find it in the item description, so I went into the drawer where I keep all owners manuals and there it was. I sent an email to the company MD Sports, with the picture of the item already on my son's wall and information about the problem and I received a response the following day saying a replacement "away hoop" would be sent to me. I honestly wasn't to sure what they meant, because I have trouble accepting when things are not made difficult. You mean, you're really going to send me a replacement "away" board, I don't have to wait for a return label (as requested by Kmart) and mail back the entire set? Yippy!!!
Wow, a company that actually values customers? Who wouldv'e thunk it?
Today, the replacement arrived and it works great! I played against my kid! Great item and I am so pleased with their customer service. After this experience, I definitely recommend this item. (See more reviews!)
