I am one that I hate cleaning the bathroom, especially the shower and tub. So when it comes to taking down a shower curtain and putting up a new one, the last thing I want to think about is the liner. For many years, I have thrown away a lot of liners without realizing how easy it is to clean them. There were many times I'd try to clean them by hand but there is an easier way!
Most vinyl shower curtain liners are perfectly safe to be washed in the washer. There are a few tips to ensure that your shower curtain will come out looking new and save you money and time.
1. Gentle Cycle is Best - Many plastic liners aren't the strongest and can tear if washed in a regular cycle so to be on the safe side, use a gentle/delicate cycle.
2. ADD 2 TOWELS to the load. The towels will act as scrubbers and will the keep the liners from get really wrinkled (and you'll kill two birds with one stone)
3. You have options as far as what to use in addition to your detergent to make those liners sparkle.
+ Normal wash use Baking Soda - Use 1/2 cup of baking soda in addition to your detergent and adding
1/2 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle
+ For Mold & Mildew use Bleach - Use 1/2 cup of bleach and 1/4 cup of laundry detergent to the
washer. Start the washer before putting in the liner and towels so that the bleach and detergent is mixed thoroughly. Add liner and finish the cycle
4. No Need For Dryer - Drying your liners may ruin them unless your dryer has a "no heat" option. If it doesn't you can just hang them up while wet and they will air dry!
