School shooting today in Nevada..What is going on in society? Is it time for parents to home school?

I live in Connecticut. The one year anniversary off the Sandy Hook shooting is approaching. The one place I felt safe as a child was school. I went to a Catholic school. The nuns put the fear of God in us to the point school was a privilege. The question parents and school administrators have to ask; "what more can be done to protect children in school'?

Many schools have metal detectors; obviously this preventative action is not working. Other schools have police officers on campus; again, this move is not working. Is home schooling the next step? Schools are place for children to learn socialization. Home schooling removes bonds started by meeting new people. I met my best friend in school, and 30 years later we are still best friends. This debate of home schooling is a conversation needed, sadly, schools are not safe.
