I have been reading a book about shepherding the child's heart and I've been learning great insights from this book.
Parents like me have to look at what is in the heart of the child in every opportunity. It is what's inside of the heart that matters are dealt. Sometimes the issues we face as parents towards are children are just the surface of what is really happening inside of them.

The author mentioned about how we can deal with our child in terms of disciplining. Whenever we are confronted with issues towards the attitude of our children, e.g. Child hits his sibling, we do not ask why questions because he may just answer it with "I don't know." Instead we can ask questions like what happened, what caused you to hit your sibling, what do you think he felt when you hit it, do you think what you did is right, what should you do, what was your feeling when you hit your sibling, what can we do so that this may not happen, do you think hitting your sibling is right, can you talk to you him about it, etc. Until you deal what is inside of him, what he felt when he hit his sibling, what circumstances made him do the act, etc, you will discern the heart issue and deal with it. Our children need to understand and process himself so that he may understand later on what really are the consequences of his actions and how should he act rightfully given a certain situation.

There so much more from this book and I will continue in the next blog.
