STOP !!!!! DON'T KISS THAT BOO BOO !!!!!!

I worked in the optical industry for more than 20 years and I have seen children with minor to severe eye problems.  One of the more common problems was pinkeye.
We love our children and hate to see them suffer.  We want to kiss their boo-boos away so that they feel better.  Today, I watched a woman kiss her son on the eye while he itched and rubbed.  It appeared to be pinkeye.  I know what you are thinking. Eewwww!  I felt the same way but I understood.
I explained to the mom that her son may have pinkeye and that pinkeye is contagious. I suggested she make an appointment for her son to see an Optometrist for treatment.
There are some boo-boos that we just can't and shouldn't try to kiss away. Seek medical attention.

Here are a few symptoms:

  • Redness in the white of the eye or inner eyelid.
  • Increased amount of tears.
  • Thick yellow discharge that crusts over the eyelashes, especially after sleep.
  • Green or white discharge from the eye.
  • Itchy eyes.
  • Burning eyes.
  • Blurred vision.
