Telling Your Kids that You’re Moving Should be the First Step

Moving to a new place takes a lot of effort and courage. It is also a lengthy process that will make you end up getting really tired. Before you even go into the details of the process, you should first think about your kids.

They will also have a hard time just as much as you. Therefore, before you start packing or even deciding that you are moving to another place, you have to let them know. They might not stop you from moving, but at least they will feel like they have a say in the process.

Tell them the reason why you are moving and why it is in everyone’s best interest. You should also tell them just how important it is for the family to move now.

Don’t give false promises

There is nothing wrong in telling them the benefits of moving. Let them know that they will meet new friends or have a great new home. You can also tell them that they can bring whatever toys they want. Just make sure you don’t exaggerate your promises. The moment they realise that what you promised them was not true, they will feel bad. Ultimately, they will lose interest in the idea of moving and even blame you for this decision.

Be optimistic

Of course, you are also affected by this decision. It is normal that you also feel bad about leaving your old home. You will go through a lot of emotional issues before you can finally accept the idea that you are leaving.

There is nothing wrong in being sad about this decision. Just make sure your kids don’t see you crying or getting too emotional. If you can’t handle this decision, they

won’t have any motivation to do so either. They might even think that everything you have said about the process is incorrect as you are also sad about leaving.

If you want them to feel great about the entire process, you have to be happy while packing. Tell them to help you out when packing clothes. They can pack their own things and be more involved. There might also be instances when they would like to just play with their friends for a longer time. Let them do it. They also need some time to say goodbye to their friends. This is the least that you can do for them, since you are asking them to do move, which they probably don’t want to do.

Once everything is set, you can ask a removal company Cheltenham offers to help you out with moving. Then, everything will be quicker.
