Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

The day you’ve dreamed of for years has finally arrived! Your little girl is all grown up and has chosen a partner to start her life with, and you are officially a MoB -- Mother of the Bride! While congratulatory remarks are appropriate at this juncture, so are a few…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

This may seem like a weird thing to be thankful for, but I’m thankful for that bulky mattress…

So, we upgraded to a new bed months ago. However, our old king mattress still lives in our home, much to my chagrin. The kids protested getting rid of it.  “Please mom, not yet!” It’s now become one of the kids’ favorite toys.

Days turned into weeks, and now into months. That giant square still hangs with us. Now we slide that heavy thing out when they want to be rowdy indoors. They use it as trampoline, a flipping mat, a wrestling ring, you name it.  They even nap on it when in slumber party mode, watching movies together downstairs.

Yes, I was initially annoyed that bulky thing took up half my living room when out.  Yes, it’s cumbersome to maneuver in and out.  But, you’d be amazed how liberating it is to jump on that thing.  How laughter fills the air when spontaneous wrestling matches begin.  The boys have even perfected some gymnastics tricks on it.  They are certainly more active when watching TV; so that’s a plus!

Oh, if I could only fold it up, but I guess I’ll pick my battles.  At the end of the day, the bulkiness has become a part of its king-sized charm. I have a small soft spot for it, I admit.  It’s also too heavy for me to discreetly remove on my own. :)
