At first glance
What do you see?
My flawed perfections?
A perfect reflection of the outer me,
But what appears to be perfect outside of me is really within me,
And if you took the time to read between the lines,
You would know that I am not your broken Barbie doll,
Or Cosmo's most wanted...
I have never been on the cover of Glamour magazine,
Nor have I graced the cat walk with my presence,
But walked the cat to make the ends meet,
Bruised beneath the surface, superficial smiles and
And photoshop'd love.
Lights, digital cameras, and action,
Caught within capture,
But captured are pictures of emptiness,
Air brushed images washed away,
And so the naked truth is revealed,
There is much more than a silhouette of sensual shadows
And still images,
A reflection in the mirror that looks back without confidence,
Sitting, wishing, wanting, and waiting to be accepted,
Not for the beauty that can be seen with the natural eye,
But for the beauty that is within……
