We are fast approaching my favorite time of year. I love holiday season, not that we do anything extra ordinary it's just the time of year and what it means. Caring, sharing, giving but more importantly for me at least it's the way it smells. I LOVE the smell of things baking (especially sweets) even if it's an artificial smell such as the pumpkin spice candles I always purchase around this time of year. I like the smell of wet leaves and snow. I like the smell of a fresh ceder fire burning in the fire place (there's nothing better) and I like the feel of the excitement in the air. My children are already starting in on me - what are we getting for Christmas? followed by some long list of things they want. Most of which they won't get but with all of the stores offering lay away this year they should be in for a few surprises which hopefully will replace the memories of last years very lack luster Christmas. Last year we were only able to get one gift a piece for our 4- it was painful for both my husband and I but our children seemed to understand, Mom isn't working anymore and Dad is carrying a full load. The gifts from last year are still being used so I must of picked wisely but I can't wait to see their faces this year as more and more things get added under the tree. I can hardly wait for our yearly winter activities to begin, which hopefully will also carry a few more surprises. These are the memory making times and the times when what you do as a parent will help shape what your children will do when they are parents so this year I think we are going to bake a little more (expect for the youngest one all of my children are allowed to help in the kitchen), I think we are going to play outside a little more and for me I will be thankful a lot more. Excitement is contagious and I plan on having my excitement spread like wildfire through my home, if nothing else goes the way I hope for it to that is one thing I can count on! Enjoy your approach ;)
