Symptoms to Take Notice of in Children

The NHS has been facing ever-increasing pressures in recent years, with slashed budgets, staff shortages and lack of resources taking its toll on the quality of care. One of the many ways we commonly see the impact of these pressures is in waiting times for GP…

How to Through A Larger Than Life Small Wedding on a Budget

This one is as simple as crowdfunding your honeymoon. It might sound strange at first, but do you really need another blender or set of dinner plates? Instead of having your guests purchase a bunch of things you’ll end up trying to return anyway, why not let them chip in for…

The size of your breasts is determined as per genetics. Once they have fully developed, your breasts may fluctuate in size due to pregnancy, weight gain and breast feeding. When you age, your breasts may droop gradually and this is termed as ptosis. This effect is enhanced during pregnancy or breastfeeding. A woman’s breasts may have different sizes as well even though this may not be easily apparent. There are times, though, when there is a visible difference.

How will breast augmentation help?

It increases the size of your breasts when an implant is placed under the breast tissue or behind the pectoral muscle. The implants are inserted into incisions made within the breast folds. The incisions can be made in the armpit or on the areola as well.

The breast implants used have an outer shell and a filling material. The filling can be saline or silicone gel. Some implants are round in shape and others in the natural breast shape. Whichever option you choose, the results will be great. The usual life expectancy of an implant is about a decade but they may stay for longer as well.

Breast augmentation is a common cosmetic procedure and it is safe with a high satisfaction rate. Before you undergo the procedure, it is best to learn about the results you can expect and the associated risks of the surgery.

Complications and risks with augmentation

When you have the implants inserted, they may not always feel natural. Some women always feel as though they have a foreign item in their body. However, most get used to the feeling.

You should not expect that an augmentation will result in a prominent cleavage. Breast implants also leave you with scarring in the area. It takes about 12 months for these to settle but their appearance can be remarkable for some women. However, a well experienced surgeon, such as Dr. Salzman,  places the incisions in a position of least visibility so you can easily wear a swimsuit.

When you use saline breast implants, water may be seen within the skin in some cases.

Most of the complications of the augmentation surgery can be easily treated with the use of antibiotics. In rare cases, you may require another surgery for removing the implants.
