The image on the right (or at least something similar) has been circulating the web for a while now. Initially I thought it was just another silly share going around, but today as it was posted I decided to click the link included with the post. It mentioned something called Common Core Math Standards and apparently it's already "standard" in some schools. This makes me nervous!

I'm nervous because I don't have time to learn anything new. Well, actually I have the time, but I do not have the interest. Now, I'm so ready to join the home schooling band wagon, but I realize if I have the time to teach my kids at home, I can surely take the time to adjust to "New Math", right? My oldest child will start in 3rd grade in the Fall and that is one of the most "tested" grades in elementary school. I'm freaking out! A lot of parents I know and parents I've come in contact with on Facebook have been home schooling their children for a few years now with excellent results.
