I am not Jewish.  I am of Anglo heritage with a strong Protestant past.  Although technically Catholic now, I was raised as a white bread Methodist. 

 

However, I have many Jewish friends, some more orthodox than others.  The first time I visited one of my closest friends, I was confused as to why there were pictures of meat and milk on her kitchen cabinet doorknobs.  I looked in the cabinets and saw ordinary dishes, but wow, she had a lot of them!  It was a while later when she explained to me that she kept kosher in her home with separate meat dishes and milk dishes.  Oh…that’s why there were milk and meat doorknobs!  Silly me.
