WHEN YOU LOSE A CHILD
It is every parent's nightmare. Except this time, it wasn't mine, it was my 5 yr old's. His brother & I were in the children's corner at Barnes & Noble, doing homework. Per Andy's request, I let him stay in the toy section, adjacent to us. He knew where we were, we knew where he was. So I thought. It must have been 10 minutes (but perhaps to Andy, hours) when I saw him come around the corner, running in terror. With a flushed face & tears running down it, he ran into my chest, nearly choking me with his grip. I knew--without words--he had gotten lost. Everything else in life froze as I held him tight--hoping his racing heart, up against mine, could be soothed. And repeatedly, I whispered, "it's scary when you can't find mommy, but it's OK, now." --->God is often seen as fatherly. But when you study the bible, you see He is equally motherly. Of course, God's image is beyond what we can understand. Yet the bible tells us that daddies & mommies are made in HIS image, so we can only conclude He graciously inhibits both persona's. After today's scare--between a mommy & her son--I understand ever so clearly now, how God feels when He loses one...and...when He finds one. Comment
