When you win, then loose (don't receive your prize)

It feels really good to win. Whether it's a blog giveaway or a $10 off a scratch ticket. And it feels even better once you receive your winnings. But what happens when you don't?
One comes to mind when I think of winning, then loosing. I entered to win a prize pack of a stroller and portable DVD player months ago. Sometime in the summer and was so excited! I had never won anything so big before and still have yet to top that prize. But sadly I only received half of my winning. And I feel weird complaining, I really do because I was so lucky to get that stroller (I actually desperately needed one) but my kids were excited for the portable DVD player. I wish I would've never told them they would get one because they still don't have it. We travel a lot in the car so when they heard they can actually watch a movie instead of looking out their window they were pretty thrilled.

But like I said, the DVD player never made it to our house. I have emailed the host numerous times and she has been very nice about the whole situation. I understand 100% that the host of the giveaway only has so much control over stuff like this. All they can do is keep bugging and emailing and or calling the sponsor to get what was promised to the winner. It just really bugs me.

It bugs me that there are moms out there who are giving companies and products exposure to hundreds and thousands of other consumers and they cannot follow through on their end of the deal. Some companies are just flat out getting free advertisement that was based on a lie. I feel pretty helpless and feel tricked in a way. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. Especially since it has happened before this incident as well.

Hi Michelle,

I really appreciated your thoughts. This does seem to be an ongoing problem and I know bloggers everywhere are working hard to resolve this problem. I've sent you a friend request, I hope you will accept it. I am also going to put a link to your blog post and blog in the January Issue of BOLD. I think this post deserves a wide readership. Thanks so much for sharing.
