Matcha White Tea. Have you heard of this. I had heard of the green matcha tea from my mom who is my go to health and everything amazing guru. But white, she even looked at me puzzled when I told her about it. This is a really great tea if you are into drink tea not just for the soothing joyful bliss that comes over one when you sip a nice cup tea. This is because Matcha tea is what you get when the whole tea leaf is picked then dried and stone ground into a fine powder. Therefore when you drink Matcha tea you are drinking the entire plant and getting all the benefits from whatever variety you choose to sip on.
Here are some of the benefits from drinking the whole plant
High ORAC value
EGCG potential HIV-1 therapy
EGCG and cancer
Matcha a good source of L-theanine
May help with fat loss
For this review I was sent Matcha White Tea by Red Leaf Tea (click here) I was sent a 30 gram bag. I was sent mine for free. I believe the cost is $20. You only need a teaspoon of the powder. You can use this powder in many ways including baking. I have only been drinking it as a tea. I make my own latte sort of drink. I take one teaspoon and add boiling hot water and I then whisk it with a fork in my cup. This helps dissolve the powder, although I do recommend that you drink this tea hot, if you don't it tends to clump up in the bottom of the cup. Once I have let the tea sit in the hot water for a few minutes I like to add warm or hot milk. Whisk with your fork again and enjoy.
The main thing that I have noticed is that the matcha tea gives me stable energy. I am not jittery and I do not crash a few hours later with the feeling that I need more caffeine. The other nice thing is that if I end up drinking my tea a little later in the day I do not have any trouble going to bed at night. I actually seem to sleep better. I have not been drinking this tea long enough to notice any weight loss or benefits to my skin. I will absolutely keep drinking the white matcha tea. I love that I am doing good for my body and I feel great when I relax and sip on a hot cup of tea so why not make a choice to drink the healthiest option I can.
Do you drink tea now?? What is your favorite? My other go to is Constant Comment. I love the hints of orange and cloves.
