Will Michelle Obama become a new role model for Moms?

Today is the day that Michelle Obama gets to tour the White House for the first time.
This will become her home for the next 4, and possible 8, years.
In a bit more that 70 days, Michelle Obama will assume the role as first lady of the United States of America.

It has been a while since there has been a 'family' living in the white house.
Chelsea Clinton to be exact. Like Chelsea, the Obama girls, Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7, will grow up in the view of the public eye. How mom handles this can make it or break it for the girls.

"My first job in all honesty is going to continue to be mom-in-chief," Michelle told Ebony magazine, "making sure that in this transition, which will be even more of a transition for the girls ... that they are settled and that they know they will continue to be the center of our universe."

Michelle Obama is no dummy. She is an Ivy League-educated lawyer, was a high-level administrator at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Like many of us, Michelle was a working mother. She knows about demands between work and family.

For eight years while living in the White House, Hilary Clinton was someone very concerned with her political future and it was obvious while she was the first lady. This paved the way for many moms to feel confident with juggling home and work. Laura Bush assumed the role of the supportive wife during her tenure. I'm not too sure that American women were totally persuaded to follow in her foot steps or that Laura Bush cared either way if she were a role model for moms.

What kind of a first lady will Michelle Obama be?
Weill she become a role model for moms
?
For now, according to those around her, Michelle will focus on easing the transition for Malia and Sasha, 7 which means getting them in new schools, settled and comfortable with a new way of life as the first family.
The girls are her priority, she has said often, the last thing she thinks about before falling asleep at night and the first thing on her mind when she wakes up in the morning. During the campaign, she set her schedule so she would be home to tuck them into bed and see them off to school.

Michelle Obama has a huge job a head of her as the First Mom.
It will be exciting to watch her become a role model for many moms.
