Wonderful Wednesday - Take a Chance and Start Something New

Wonderful Wednesday - it is wonderful to take a chance and try something new.

Each Wonderful Wednesday throughout the month of  November has been devoted to taking a chance and starting something new. The first Wednesday was about taking a chance and starting a business. Next we looked at taking a chance starting a blog and taking a chance and writing an e-book. This week, the final Wonderful Wednesday article in the November is encouraging you to take a chance and do something - pursuing happiness.

So many times in life, people have a grand idea, a dream of great and wonderful things they would like to accomplish. The things remain dreams and never become reality because the people never take a chance and go for it. It is that failure to take action, to try the new thing, to pursue happiness that leads to depression, sadness and regret. Over the course of the past month, I have been encouraging readers to take chances and to do things to make their dreams come true. As business owners, as parents, as people who work jobs, as human beings, we must find the internal strength and fortitude to go for what we want, to pursue happiness.

Living in the United States we have all heard the words and know we are entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. However, there are so few of us who actually use our lives and our liberty to pursue happiness. I wonder why that is the case.  So many things in life require us to be risk takers, to act without a guarantee of results. For example, those of you who got married, you wanted a happily ever after, but it was not guaranteed. Those of you who have started businesses wanted successful outcomes and profitable enterprises. At the start you had hope of success, but no guarantee.

Everything starts with a dream, a hope, a single thought. What makes it happen, whatever it is, is the action. The Bible says, "faith without work is dead." We can have all the hope we want, all the dreams we want, but until we add some action, we have nothing. I am encouraging people to stop dreaming and start living. If that thing you thought of doing existed now, what would you be doing? Well start doing it! Perhaps you are dreaming the impossible dream and fighting the impossible fight. It doesn't matter. Get up and go for it.

I always ask people, how do you eat an elephant? The answer is always, one bite at a time. Today, find your elephant, your dream, your goal and do one thing towards making it happen. Tomorrow do another thing. Then repeat everyday. If you do this, you will go from having a dream, to living your dream. So the question for you this Wonderful Wednesday is, what new thing are you going to take a chance and start working on TODAY?
