I never really thought of being over 40 as an issue.
I've just been doing my thing for the past 20 years and haven't really noticed anything was different.
After college I married and had my career. Then came the kid thing. I gave up my career to be at home with my kids. Yes, I found small part time jobs and other methods of making money. Being home when my kids were home was my personal priority and something I've never regretted, even though I don't have the nicest car or biggest house.
Some time around the time that I decided to return to school last year, I started to notice a general change in the media and public about women over 40. I'm sure it's always been there, I just noticed it.
I have to tell you, being over 40 is not that big of a deal.,
I don't really feel any older even though I have a few wrinkles and have to color my hair- which I've always done anyway.
Feeling old at any age is what you make of it.
So what, I'm over 40
I go to school with and fit in fine with students 20 years younger than me.
I have my children pretty much raised and can move on with my life.
I have my own small business.
I even run five miles every morning, and I enjoy it.
Being over 40 means;
You learn how to pick and choose what's worth fighting for.
You learn how to pass on stuff not worth getting worked up over.
You don't always have to be concerned about how you are dressed or having to wear make up all the time.
You have a certain wisdom and confidence that is to be reckoned with.
You find that women become more supportive of one another.
You've got most of the tough stuff out of the way and you can now enjoy life.
Are you fearing turning 40?
Fear is all in your mind.
You should be looking forward to it.
I just started a Mom Bloggers Group for Moms over 40.
I hope to see you there.
