This week's topic for You Capture topic is Outside. I love topics like this because I get my best pictures from the outdoors. Living in Southern Nevada- we have some amazing landscapes. I have enjoyed these You Capture weekly challenges so much that it has changed a few things around here. 1- I have my husband taking pictures too & asking me to share them on the blogs & 2- I finally ordered a new camera today. I have been limping along with a 6 MP point & shoot camera for a couple years now. When I bought it- I was upgrading from my very first digital that had a mere 2 MP. I thought I was really cruising with the 6. But it's been 3 years with this one and with all the advances- it was time. It should be here early next week- just in time for the next challenge. I have always had a love for photography & this is my first step towards my New Year's resolution to not only take more pictures- but to take better quality pictures. I'm not waiting for the new year to get started. I didn't go all out professional with my camera of choice- but I will be more than doubling my MP & zoom capabilities- which should do wonders. I am thrilled to see what I can capture in the future. I'm sure my next one will be more of the professional quality- but for now, this will be just what I need as I continue to learn.
Now these pictures for this week's topic were actually taken by my husband as he was making his travels from one end of the county to the other. You see- geographically, we are the second largest county in the nation with 18,600 square miles. When he has to travel from here to the stations at the other end- it takes him a good 6+ hours to get there. Some of the roads are so lonely that he can literally stop in the middle of the highway, turn off his truck and walk away with out ever worrying about being in the way of another car coming by. It brings a whole new appreciation to the phrase "the silence is deafening".
