The days of living our lives are marked by how well we live and the number of experiences we have collected through the life. A lot of time the experience counts more than the age. There are different milestone birthday’s in the life that makes us revisit life in a certain…
Birthdays are a very special occasion that one should bring in with innovative and unique ways that make it a memorable affair throughout your life. Although it is said that we should live each day fully, for birthday’s, you should go beyond full and live it in a…
Hi there from The Girlz Korner in upstate New York where you'll find light, witty and rather entertaining articles on every topic imaginable from The Little Black Dress to Making Whoopie. So if you get a chance to kick back and exhale, if only for a brief moment ... come on over and see me some time.
Hey Peryl! I read your recent blog post and I sadly can not say I'm to surprised by the feedback you got. Parents are mad-crazy! People need to learn to step outside of themselves and that not everything is worth getting all negative about. To each his own!
haha whats funny is I'm not even that much of a wine and sushi person but right now its all I can think about like it was my favorite food or something! And you're right my comments apparently don't work! I was totally clueless about it, it must have happened when I changed my layout last week but I don't know why, its a plain blogger template so you'd think it'd be foolproof. ah well.
I read and commented on your child abuse prevention month post and was so glad to see someone else had written about it as well. You should check out the article I wrote in honor of it. I've been active in child abuse prevention for years now and I wish there was something more as a group we could do to raise awareness. Thanks! http://sproutreviews.com/2010/04/01/april-child-advocacy-part-i/
I wanted to ask you a question but didn't want to clog up the message board over at Aspiring Writers. I love the articles you wrote for Mamapedia, and you've inspired me to submit something to them. The website says to send an email if interested in blogging with them, but I'm so new to this freelancing thing that I have no idea what exactly I should be emailing them. Do I send a query? A manuscript? I've never done this before! Kind of scary. Thanks for the inspiration and any advice you can offer!
You are probably aware that one way links are more valuable in search engine eyes, than reciprocal links. I would like to propose that you add my blog http://www.momswearyourtees.blogspot.com (text link or grab my button)
to your blog list and I add your blog to my blog directory at http://www.momswearyourtees.com/blognetworking.htm
If this sounds good to you, just add my blog and leave a comment on my wall or blog letting me know and I will add your blog right away.
Hi Peryl, I just read your article on Momapedia and left a comment. It was really funny, and I enjoyed it very much. I have also read one of your posts on parenting adbsurdum, and tried to follow, but I see there is no google friends connect. I registered with the site to return your follow, so hopefully it went through. Is there a time delay with subscriptions? Either way I look forward to reading more of your work!
No problem, Peryl. Funny, I assumed since I knew the stuff that everyone did! LOL. I am not computer expert but I do not stop until I find a way...lol. I am also impatient. So waiting for someone to make me a button or header was just unacceptable. Although I did recently win an April Showers Blog Design contest for 1/2 off a service. She's been busy so I am still waiting after months. I think I'll give up on it...especially after I redid my blog on my own.
I just saw your post on fff about momapedia so I went and left a comment on your post for you. Congratulations. THat is very cool!
Love it if you visit my blog. http://www.momswearyourtees.blogspot.com
It's much more "fun" to observe the office drama than get dragged into it. I ask all my office mommy friends for gossip now just for a quick smile, but the drama is just so trivial now. And thank goodness I can say that! :>
I'm replying to you here as well as through the direct message system!
I'm most certainly no expert! ;o) But as far as essays, I've found that it's best to write the entire essay for submission, as opposed to technical or information-based articles where you would send a query first. I always include a cover letter with the essay which gives a brief summary of the piece, the word count and where I think it would fit in a particular magazine.
So far my essays have appeared in various regional parenting and women's magazines. (Also one very, very small national Christian magazine).
Just so you know, the reason I made a note that Girlfriend 2 Girlfriend and Simple Joy were great for newbies was because they are a low-paying market. If you're just starting out in essay writing, it's a great way to get a clip, but you definitely won't get rich off them.
