Nanit - The Baby Monitor That Thinks

Do you allow comments to be posted without approving them or do approve all comments first? Why did you decide to do it this way? How about word verification, do you use it on your blog, why or why not?

Hope this question hasn't been asked before

For now I let the posts be posted right away. But will moderate them if anything "bad" gets through.
Any new poster I approve, then after that their comments go straight through. Word press is good at catching Spam so I don't get much.
I approve all comments. I'm skeered of getting a mean one! (but I haven't yet, thankfully). I think it's just a good safeguard at keeping away spammers.
Hiiiiii Tena! Look at you, all big on the home page! Woo Woo! :D

I do not pre-approve, but I would have no problem deleting something that I felt was snarky.
I like to approve my comments so I don't miss any comments, though lately this hasn't been a problem as I've had only a few! :-)
I do not have my comments approved yet. I have only had a couple of weird comments placed that have no meaning so it hasn't been necessary yet. I do have word verification because I was tired of spammers. I suppose if I was writing something people could have a strong opinion about the need might arise if things got nasty but so far so good.
Great Q Tena!

I do approve mine first. Mainly because I want to read them. If they post they I forget to go read. This way they come to my inbox and then I reply (if email addy is there) right away. I like making it a bit more personal to me.

Word verify is kinda annoying isn't it. i'm going to turn it off and see what happens.
I allow all comments but I did set up word verification after I received a spam comment.
I do approve my comments, though I tend to get a TON of spam! I have deleted a comment a few times because it was just downright offensive, I try to keep my blog somewhat family-ish because I also use my blog to promote my business and my business is very family-oriented.
I don't preapprove them and I only delete the porn/spam ones. Any other comment is as relevant in a discussion as you and me talking face to face. I HATEHATEHATE (did I say that I hate them?) the word verification dealies. Some of them are nearly impossible for people with poor eyesight to read. If you feel you have to use those, please use ones with starkly contrasting letters/backgrounds. the pinks on reds and such as that -- no matter how much I might want to comment, I just have to leave because I can't read them.

All that said, if my internet stalker ever finds me again, I'll have to start doing the approval thing because on a prior incarnation of my blog she made things so uncomfortable even I didn't want to come visit, never mind anyone else!
I approve my comments before they "go live," mostly because I've had some rogue people post some offensive, spammish content and I just don't want that junk on my blog. I usually log-in to my blog a few times a day, so comments are rarely sitting in the moderation queue for longer than a couple of hours (or overnight...if you visit me while I sleep).
I have a hard time with the word verfiy, because I am no robot and I swear I hardly ever get them right on the first try, lol
