What would you differently if you could start your blog all over again?

- register a domain name?
- hire a designer?
- not blog about my family?

What would you do differently?

im pretty new to blogging so I am still learing the curves. www.blueberrybites.blogspot.com

If I could start over......

I would stop stressing about the stats... I'm still guilty of it. I check, probably too often, who's been on my blog, how many comments I have, how many views. It drives me crazy but I can't stop. It makes me happy to know people are reading and it depresses me when I have no activity.

Any of you feel the same way?

I wish I'd understood the benefits of blogging sooner so I'd blogged sooner.

I started a site for my coaching services intending to add a blog as a page on there. I then went round & round in circles & attracted no-one. No point in being a great coach if no-one knows where you are!! It wasted months of my time.

I then decided I needed to learn so went on a course and realised (to my initial horror) that I had to start again from scratch & that my blog is my site. I had it round the wrong way.

It was an expensive lesson & a very steep learning curve. I've still got lots to learn but my blog is finally live at www.improvehowyouworkfromhome.com

Since my blog is still so new I'm not sure what I would change... I would really like to narrow my focus but I'm interested in so many things that I find it to be very difficult. I plan on using sites like this more often. Trying to keep up with all these social media sites can be time consuming, but I know it's worth it. I really need to set time aside for networking.

Hi ChicSAHM.

I suppose it depends on the reason you're blogging. If it's a hobby & you do it for pleasure then maybe you can combine all your interests. If your blog is a business you may want to look at narrowing your focus to see who it is you want to help, who's your target audience and what solutions you can provide.

My blog's very new too!!

If I could start my blog all over I would hire a designer and get a mentor because trying to figure it out on your own is tough.

Hi Shaela, I know exactly how you feel. I was totally overwhelmed by it all and had to get a mentor by going on a group coaching programme as I was completely stuck. This helped me understand the technical side of the set up too. I've now created my blog / site with no design help at all. I've got a wordpress site and just kept it really simple.

I am still learning & am far far far from being an expert but if you'd like some help go to www.improvehowyouworkfromhome.com and send me an email.

what's the name of your site?

I would try to be less paralysed by other blogger's fantastic writing, thinking I have nothing unique to add.

I'm new to blogging and this forum! I'm so glad that I've found you wonderful ladies. I'm taking a mental note of all these post and learning from them.

I'm very new to blogging but I know right off the back that if I could do it over again, I would have chosen a different blog name that I could grow with. This was a huge mistake on my part. I'm an Army spouse and my husband may not be in the military forever LOL. I really don't want to change my blog name from Thrifty Military Wife but I see now things could change.

When I first started, I had a plan in mind of where I wanted to go so I was listening to advice from everyone who suggested hiring an editor temporary to help me focus my content, buying facebook fans, buying twitter fans, and everything under the sun.  All I could see was $$$ and I want not prepared financially for a huge expense.  I did take the advise on the editor because I thought that people were suggesting that because I was a horrible writer.  She was A NIGHTMARE. She want her own blog but some reason did not start one and then wanted part ownership of mine even though I had decided to partner with by BFF, when I terminated her, she went through my fans list and bad mouthed me. I don't think that I will ever recover from that one. If I had to start over again, I would join MBC first and never hire an editor.

Hi Leteesha,

I thought it was an awesome name and the truth is once a  military spouse always a military spouse.  As a military spouse myself, I find it helpful when other people locate information for me or having interesting things that can benefit my life.  If your husband makes a career out of the military or he decides to pursue another career, you will always understand the workings of military life and be able to offer some wisdom that will benefit all branches of service.
