Just wondering...
Do those Suave (i think it's Suave but if it's not feel free to correct me) commercials insult you? You know...the ones that say all moms start to let themselves go after they have a child(ren). Because I for one am VERY happy that I can wear flip flops and comfortable clothes when I'M GOING TO THE PARK! It's not wrong to be casual when you are a stay at home mom...and i don't see how some shampoo is gonna make me start wanting to wear heels and a $50 shirt only to get paint/dirt/snot/drool/whatever all over it. Am I alone here?

I hope not.

then again...I wasn't always a stay at home mom. I had to work and only had "casual Fridays" to dress down- so as soon as i quit my job I was ELATED to be able to where sneakers and jeans all day every day!
Nope, you're not alone. In fact some friends of mine even wrote in to Suave and let them have it for giving out free coloring books to kids showing how sad and tired their mommies looked and how she would be so much prettier and happier if she just used their product. gRRRR!

And like you, I don't see any reason to be "dressed to the nines" for a trip to the playground that's gonna get covered in dirt, juice and whatever else my kid digs up. :p

however, I've NEVER been a slave to fashion or brands. I wear what fits me and I feel comfortable wearing. Sorry marketing executives, my momma raised me to be comfortable in my own skin. ha ha!
wow! i did NOT know they gave out those coloring books- now that makes this even worse...i'm glad to hear you know people that opened their mouths too- i totally agree.
I will shop at Target or any place that's got a good discount or sale so that i can buy my son something HE wants instead...but that certainly doesn't mean i dress like a slob like they show on that commercial.
thanks for your input Renee!

lol no your not i totally agree with you!!

But then again thats tv for you..
I had no clue about the coloring books, but I can see that being done. It is sad to use a child's tool like that to get at moms, but companies do it, and many times not in a positive way. I am one of the lucky few that works in an office that only needs to dress "to the nines" when I have a client meeting, so I am in jeans and flip flops all the time. Honestly, with what I do, I wouldn't want to have to be dressed nice all day because I really need to be comfy to get it done.
I'm with you on this one I love being casual.
For some reason, those commercials seem to forget their is a difference between going casual and becoming a frump. I *love* being casual - there is nothing wrong with a cute shirt and a pair of great jeans. However, I draw the line at wearing pajamas or sweats outside of my house!
I am a working mom and although I would like to think that I can afford some life luxuries, I choose to be comfortable with what I waer. I wear flip flops to the wet market and the same ones to the playground and shopping malls. My fundamental is - comfort over everything else. I guess it is also about being able to pull it off - I mean I see woman tryng to be sophiscated but ended up totally messing temselves up.

So stick your head high gurl cos you've got your own style that makes you look good no matter what you wear! It goes with the attitude, man!! ;)
I think most mom's agree. Being in comfy clothes at home is a must. Who wants to get your good clothes ruined while at home with kids....to many stains...I did a post on this not to long ago and had a pretty good response! It's called What do you wear around the house? Check it out along with the comments..funny women wrote in... good laughs! :)

I love my pajamas...I feel guilty actually that I would rather live in them. My mother-in-law is very anti-casual wear though, and she lives next door, popping by all the time. So I keep the jammie days down to once a week or so. I dress comfortably classy I would call it in public though...no heels, but something that makes me feel hot.
I usually wear jeans, but if I working or cleaning, it's sweats. I do drag around in my robe in the morning for as long as I can drinking coffee and looking on the computer, but that's only on weekends. For work I wear nicer pants and tops and black jeans once a week.
Well, I work at home so I can be pretty darn casual. I'm usually in capri sweats and tank tops until 1 o'clock or so, then I shower and dress in jeans and tees and clogs. I try to spruce up before hubby gets home, although I have to admit , I sometimes shower and then get into more sweats!!

I personally would like to dress up a little more. I miss spending time picking out cute outfits and doing my hair. Now, it kinda feels like a waste of time. wow.. that sounds awful.
