How many posts a week should you do to keep readers coming back?

I have a favorite blog that I read-to me reading a good blog is like reading a chapter in a book. The only thing is, lately, I feel that she doesn't post that much and I've even started to forget to check for new posts. How many times do you post to keep your readers interested? Is it asking too much for at least 4 to 5 posts a week?

I haven't posted in about a month - since I returned to work after maternity leave - and so this is a great kick in the tush. Before I was blogging 4-5 times a week - some days I'd write a couple of times a day. I started setting the timer in Blogger so that they would post over the next day or two so I could keep the creative juices flowing but then not have one day be so overloaded and then nothing again for a week.

I try to post everyday. I like to post more than once - but it is difficult to keep up!

I tried to post something interesting everyday. Since mine is a new blog about my adventure as a daddy to my son Ryan, there is always something to post. There are days that there are several posts on different topics. I guessed as time gets by, it becomes more and more challenging to find interesting topics to post as some of the topics might have already been covered. Being a new blog (3 months old), I find that it is important to have something interesting everyday to ensure returning visits, build up relationship with other bloggers and also to attract new visitors. I also find adding subsequent update to an earlier post or topic a great way to keep my blogging buddies `entertained'. Still learning and a long way to go but I enjoy every second of it.
