You leave a comment but the author doesn't give a hoot, do you visit that blog again?

I have visited a lot of blogs, left comments in good faith but never got a hi or a ho. It's kind of sad. I felt unappreciated. I came back 2x on others, the others I just never visited again. Is this right?

Well, being a mom of 3 boys, running 4 blogs, contributing to 2 other websites, and running a ranch...I don't have time to respond to comments unfortunately. I always try to write a post telling all my readers how much I appreciate them, etc. It's the best that I can do for now.

I'd hate to think that you would never visit that site again at all because of that. You have no clue what they may be going through in their own personal day........
Thanks for you response. I just wanted to get a brief consensus of what others think about this. There's a lot of them there that really dont bother interacting.

I don't mind if that particular blogger doesn't come to visit my site, but if I leave a comment on their site, I would like that they at least acknowledge it (in their own comments section). I'll usually give it a few tries, if I get nothing (depending on the site) I'll still subscribe to their blog, but I'll stop commenting. Part of the FUN of blogging is that personal interaction, when it's not there, it starts to feel like I'm just reading an article out of a magazine...where's the fun in that?!?!? :)
Hey thanks for responding. I get what you mean and I still do visit those blogs who are in the same situation as you are. In this particular scenario, it's those blogs that seem to have a lot of time posting a post everyday with not a lot of commenters to deal with on daily basis and yet couldn't even find time to acknowledge a visitor to their blog. I just find that odd.

I always try to answer posts on my blog but I do so on my blog, if I visit their site I try to find a post I can offer advice or chip in on to respond to.
Hi thanks for adding your two cents in. Yes, I do believe that small things like this means a lot to visitors who come to your blog.

I think whether you visit again depends on how much you liked the blog content! I follow a few blogs that I just like, I find them valuable whether or not I have any contact with the author. That said, I love some bloggers who have taken the time to reply to my comments, it's really a nice thing to do, even if I comment a lot but only hear from them once in a while.

It also depends on what you are looking for, and what the blogger is doing -- some people blog as part of their social life, others blog for other reasons...

I have just realized today that people have been leaving comments on my blog and I'm not getting email notifications!!! Aaarrggghhh! I also don't quite understand how to email someone back after they commented (as some bloggers have contacted me and it's so nice) vs. posting a reply to their comment on my blog, which they may never see...... I'm so confused! And this is a vital part of blogging that I need to figure out and soon! I want to be friendly and I appreciate the visits!
I can't seem to respond to every comment even though I would really like to - life just takes over some days. I try to go to their blog and comment if I have something to say, but sometimes I don't. If they use Entrecard, I drop my card so they at least knew I came by.

I do make an effort to let people know I appreciate their visits. It's hard sometimes though - sometimes I just don't have anything to say ;)
You made me re-think this. I didn't think people came back to read the replies to comments. I will certainly be better about how I handle comments now. This is why I tend to avoid the A Lister blogs, since they get 100s of comments. Do they really read all of them? Certainly they won't read mine or even care. While I know those who only get 10 and under comments do read them and appreciate them. Sometimes I don't get time to reply right away and with my busy schedule, if I don't reply immediately, it's forgotten. So yeah, good lesson. I am someone who appreciates every single reader, every single comment, so I need to get better about letting people know that!
Oh and as far as checking out the blogs of people who leave comments, I need to get better about that, too.

Altho I have to say that I've been told a way to increase traffic is to leave comments on the popular blogs. It just seems insincere to me. Leaving a comment in a blog just to get traffic to mine? Maybe some of the more popular bloggers have figured this out and think people are just fishing for readers?
That's called being a comment whore...when you leave comments on high traffic blogs just to gain traffic yourself. I'm a comment whore on one blog and that's because I really don't like her but I get tons of traffic. My readers probably know who she is......

And while I may not get hundreds of comments on my blog, I do get quite a bit across all 4 and I read EVERY single one them;) It's my job.

I appreciate when folks visit my blog and I will visit and comment on their blog. I can do this because at most I will have 20 comments. But in the case of someone have 50 or more I can understand how doing this would be difficult. I would hope that they stop by but am not expecting it. I also believe that if you are visiting newer blogs with little traffic they may not know to comment.
I try my best to check out the blogs of those who comment on my site, and to comment back. I figure if they were nice enough to read what I wrote, and found it interesting enough to comment, I'd like to know about what they write about too.

Someone left an awesome comment on my blog the other day, and wanted to get talking with me about featuring me on her blog - except I went to check out her blog, and her profile is blocked...so have no ide what her blog is!

Her alias was Bi-Coastal Babe. That's all I know :)
