Do you stay away from blogging about politics for fear of losing readers?

I'm not one to bite my tongue and I most certainly will blog about my political beliefs and who I support, but does the fear of losing some of your audience or getting negative feedback keep you from speaking about politics on your blog?

I don't blog about politics because I don't give a crap about politics.
Plus, nobody reads it yet anyway ;)
I'm not one who normally discusses politics with anyone but family and close, close, close friends. Likewise, I don't bring it up on my blog. It doesn't really fit with my normal topics.

BUT . . . I did post something today. It was more a vent regarding political coverage and mud-slinging. It hasn't generated a lot of comments, but I didn't write it for that purpose. I just wanted to get some thoughts out of my HEAD! :)

That's funny; if IRL= in real life, then URL must mean unreal life!

I don't blog about politics or religion. One reason is that I am really not that interested in everyone knowing my opinions, and second, like Ali I am not interested in the subject.
I can't help but blog about politics sometimes and I am sure my readers haven't always agreed. But I have had great responses too. I guess I just can't help it. I am completely 100% myself on my blog, so when I feel passionate about something, I blog about it. I do care about readership of course, but I guess folks will have to take me or leave me. What you see is what you get! :)
Trust and believe no matter what topic(s) you blog about; there's always going to be people who have that same interest and will read the content on your blog.
I will share my views on politics but I make sure it relates to my blog. My readership knows I am a staunch Obama supporter. I did Convention Style pieces about Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain--as I am mainly a beauty blog, this was relevant. I did, however, speak my mind VERY BRIEFLY about the candidates themselves.

I also did a piece as part of my daily ETSY LOVE column about Obama, but the feature was on Obama items for sale on Etsy, so the subject matter was relevant.

I majored in poli sci in college and I am a campaign volunteer. Politics is in my blood and if I never talked about it, then I wouldn't be revealing who I really am to my readership either.

I blog #1 for myself--I LIKE to blog. I do not believe that my readers will agree with my views on EVERYTHING, no matter what the topic may be, so I am not going to hold back.
I'm saddened to see so many women not interested in Politics and/or afraid to share their views. Sharing any beliefs and ideas opens discussions and makes us all better people.
I think you're awesome!

I'm not trying to avoid scaring away readers when I choose not to blog on politics. I don't blog on that topic out of respect. Some people don't care where I stand politically and they don't visit my blog to find that out. The only thing I will blog about is the importance of voting. An opinion doesn't count if it isn't backed with a vote.
