Disclosure Policies - what do you use and how does mine sound?

I write a blog about children's books, media, toys and games. It is an Amazon.com affiliate, and we have earned a little bit through the links. Recently other bloggers who write kids lit blogs attended a conference where someone from the FTC spoke about disclosures and Amazon affiliates. Apparently there may be new rules or recommendations about what advertisers and bloggers can do. (I took several months off blogging in summer, so this may be old news to all of you!)

Anyway, I have written a disclosure policy. Would you please let me know what you think? I almost think this is a good thing and that perhaps it will increase people's purchases if they enjoy the content. I believe in sharing and recommending only the best things that our family finds, and I hope it's useful to other families.

It sounds OK to me, I believe the biggest thing is just making sure that there is disclosure & that people know if there's the possibility of money being involved.

I have a basic one that is in my footer, but I don't do giveaways or reviews. So it doesn't need to cover those issues.

Here is a free Disclosure Policy generator (click here). I used it for my FreelyEducate.com blog, here. It includes the requisite (yawn) legal jargon. At the top of the policy, I added a "for the layperson" paragraph to keep my blog's "voice" and to keep the layperson (like me and 99.9% of people out there) from falling asleep while reading the boring, more legal one.

To be sure not to get dinged by google, make your disclosure an image, so that it can't be crawled by their spiders. I've even gone as far as to make my post disclosures also an image. For instance, this is my new disclosure when I review a product that's been provided free of charge.

I recently started a blog and have included Amazon Associate content. I like it, because I can control what is advertised on my blog. Thanks for your disclosure examples. If anyone else knows more about new rules etc., please comment. Thanks.
