It seems like there is collective angst about the amount of homework kids are assigned every day during the school year. But, it now seems there is a growing movement for teachers to assign summer homework as well.

We've never gotten homework over the summer yet, but I think it would be somewhat helpful to have some kind of checklist to keep school and learning in the fore front of our minds.

Homework over summer-NO. Reading list is great if the kids love to read and find them stimulating. Otherwise, they will be ignored.

I'm not quite sure on this one yet. The only thing we have to do with our oldest starting kindergarten is to read with him which I absolutely love.

My daughter does, I want to keep her little mind going this summer. She will be going into first grade this year and I bought books so that she can learn a little first grade stuff. I think it will help her.
