News reached a fever pitch this week when consumers found out Samsung Smart TVs with voice commands can transcribe your conversations and send them to a third-party server.
Would you buy a smart TV that could listen to your conversations and send them to a third party? Or, would you buy a smart TV and just disable the voice commands?

Absolutely not...Even if I could turn it off I can't think of one reason why a third party would need access to my private conversations!
We completely agree, Paige! We wouldn't even want a TV like that in our house particularly because we wouldn't know how to turn off the voice commands.
LOL, yes - I am somewhat technically challenged so that would definitely add to my decision.

I would probably buy it an turn off the voice command function. My mom just bought a smart tv a few months ago and she loves it. I really do need to remember to talk to her about this asap though!
Turning off the voice command is so key! Just imagining that a TV can listen to us is so scary!

Oh, no! Not in the bedroom :) So glad it's an older model!

No way! We have the older model of this tv (pre voice command capability)bin our bedroom, but I nearly lost it before I had all the info and realized it wasn't our tv..... the stories that thing could tell, yikes!
Yea, definitely not! I don't feel comfortable with anything having access to our private conversations! I also don't feel we've reached the point of laziness that needs voice commands. I don't know if anyone else is a Disney nut but it makes me think of the Carousel of Progress. On the ride, in the future section the oven answers to voice command. It ends up not listening and the oven explodes. They just need to work on getting me a Rosie from the Jetsons, that would be useful ;)
I just realized I have a New Samsung Smart TV - I talk to my dog all night, they must think Im NUTS. I suppose I should pull out the instruction guide and figure out if "they" are listening.
Absolutely not! I don't like the idea of having no privacy in my home where I should feel safe.
Defiantly not! That's disturbing to know someone could listen on my conversations. Also have them listening to my children's conversations, that's not okay! Is anything or anyone safe from technology? Seriously? Can we go back to when we never had that problem? That would be nice.
I do have a Samsung smart TV at my place, but am not sure mine records voice commands.I would not like anyone to have access to my private conversations.
