Well there are two main ways to do giveaways:

1. You ship the item (whether you bought it yourself or it was sent to you by a company)
OR
2. They ship directly from the company.

Most of us try to do number 2 since we don't have oodles of money.

Usually when I'm contacted about a review opportunity, I ask if they are also interested in a giveaway and explain how it works. They tell me what product and how many and to who they can ship.

You can also contact companies yourself for review/giveaway but I wouldn't suggest that till your blog is more established.

I was just over at your blog a few minutes ago - small world!

Business 2 Blogger will help you get a few new contacts and opportunities which is cool, but if you are really interested in making this something that you do all the time on your blog then I would contact companies directly that you would like to work with. I have also found it helpful to be active on twitter where a lot of these companies are looking for mom bloggers. The other thing that is helpful is to increase the traffic, page rank and alexa ranking of your blog. These "stats" will all improve over time and increased content and as you increase your social media sphere of influence. Since I have been blogging for 3 years many companies now approach me. I think I am on some sort of list because all the emails start with "Dear June" because I blog at June Cleaver Nirvana. So silly. Anyway, that is one of the reasons I started Business 2 Blogger is because I had crazy mis-fit pitches thrown my way (I don't even do product reviews on my personal blog) and I was forwarding them on to other bloggers until it just got too much. I thought B2B might be a way bloggers could gracefully turn down a mis-fit pitch and forward it on to others that might be interested.
