As many of you have probably heard, Google is cancelling the GFC widget/service for all blogs that aren’t hosted on Blogger. Since this affects me and many other bloggers, I’ve already stopped offering following on GFC as an entry option and will be replacing it with Google Plus.
Google Plus is not exactly the same thing as GFC. GFC was more of a subscription service while Google Plus is supposed to be like Facebook. I’m a little (ok, a lot) annoyed that I spent so much time building up my followers to over 3000 subscribers, and now Google randomly decided to cancel it so now I have to promote and build another Google social media following. I guess they are Google and can do what they want.

Have you switched to Google Plus yet? What do you think of this change?

I really didn't know that. So the only alternative is G+ ?
Actually I wouldn't even really call G+ an alternative, since it's not the same service as GFC. I think it's just the next big thing that bloggers are trying to build. As an alternative to GFC, I am just going to push/encourage subscribing by RSS feed or email.

I think your right- It's just weird that they are getting rid of it for all those bloggers with a huge following -not good.
Well it's smart on their part, because it pretty much forces us to start using G+. But it doesn't make me think very highly of them, and it shows a lack of respect. It's not like they are doing away with GFC altogether, they are only taking it away from bloggers who don't use their own platform (Blogger/Blogspot).
