I want to hear from the mom bloggers who are being hired to blog, edit or write. What are you making per hour (or post or assignment)?

I know we're a little shy about sharing what we're making, so maybe give an example like, "Most blogging jobs I know about pay $X per post or about $X per hour." You don't need to give details on who is paying what, but please share details like "$X for a 500 word post" or "$X for 8 posts a month."

So many bloggers, especially newbies, aren't been paid properly for their time and content. I feel if we share what we're making that will give us the power to negotiate better blogging deals for ourselves.

Sisters, let's get paid what we're worth!

I charge $50 for sponsored posts, but I could probably charge more. My sponsored posts are 300 words each. I also charge several hundred dollars for sponsored giveaways.
I'm on the hiring/brand end and I would counsel you to definitely charge more than $50. We try to pay $1/word for paid content - the same we pay traditional writers/freelancers for our MomSquad Trendletter, etc. Bloggers can also counsel brands. For that you might consider an hourly rate, e.g., $75-$100/hour, as a starting point for a discussion. I've also seen brands pay honorariums for an extended period of blogger counsel/engagement. At the same time, we work with bloggers in an editorial capacity, and when bloggers cover something as "news" or write a product review we are careful not to pay - we don't want to bias the blogger's view/review.
$1 a word! I knew I was selling myself short. Well, $1 per word it will be for now on. Thank you so much for your insights. I really appreciate it.
You bet Jennifer. You may not always get it, but I would start there and see where it goes. I do think $50 for 300 words is too low. Feel free to stay in touch. We use freelance contributors to our MomSquad Trendletter (you can view past issues on the MomSquad page on our site www.360publicrelations.com) from time to time.
Whao..where do you gals get such gigs for writing? would really love to do some sponsored writing.
I get paid $45/hr. to "ghost write" a blog for one of my clients...it is pretty simple though, she provides me with the basic blog and I just edit it and post it...make it look pretty...lol...I thought that was decent...??
omg! so i feel like a low-baller now. i work freelance for a writing company here in the Philippines which gives not even half of what you were telling here. We do web content writing. But so far, i have not been really that active with them anymore, since i do paid posts. lol. plus, im currently working out a gig for a magazine here..

like what dominique said, where do you get such gigs? lol
Where do you find these kind of gigs? I am really interested in them. please email me bgraff6@hotmail.com
This was a big question for me! OMG I feel so stupid and used. I wrote for a website for about a year. I had to have 3-4 articles per week. I was paid monthly..$200...what a chump I am. Well I can't blame anyone but myself, I should have done my research!
How does a person get into problogging?? That sounds right up my alley.
Ya'll are going to have to fill me in on all this blogging for money stuff. I would love to know more!
I am just started out and not getting paid to blog yet, but this article has most certainly caught my attention and I will now be 'stalking' I mean, ahem 'following' it now to get more ideas! It's only a matter of time before I get approached and this is an amazingly helpful reference point!
