Hourly rate for problogging?

I want to hear from the mom bloggers who are being hired to blog, edit or write. What are you making per hour (or post or assignment)?

I know we're a little shy about sharing what we're making, so maybe give an example like, "Most blogging jobs I know about pay $X per post or about $X per hour." You don't need to give details on who is paying what, but please share details like "$X for a 500 word post" or "$X for 8 posts a month."

So many bloggers, especially newbies, aren't been paid properly for their time and content. I feel if we share what we're making that will give us the power to negotiate better blogging deals for ourselves.

Sisters, let's get paid what we're worth!

I would love to get paid for blogging. I've been blogging for about a year but transferred over to my own domain about 6 weeks ago. I love how much more freedom I have with the way things look. I'm not that "great" on the design end of things but I'm working on it. Good luck to everyone, including myself!

I would be very interested in hearing from those of you who are finding opportunities to get paid to blog, even if it's only sporadic. Anyone here with success in that area care to share some tips? Do clients find you? Do you find them? I'm about to start looking into that right now! :)

I have a question too, do you list yourself as an independent contractor and put so much money aside for taxes?? What about on items you get for free to review - do you have to pay taxes on them if they are "worth" a certain amount?

I'm interested in getting into editing. My husband and I blog together and I ind that I really enjoy editing his work. I actually enjoy it so much that I find myself trying to edit the books I read and the podcasts I listen to! Any suggestions?

The only place I've been paid for an article thus far is at Helium, and that was $16. I haven't really 'sold' myself too much in this area just yet, but intend to. Most of my efforts have been getting my new blog off the ground at present. But, a paid blogging gig is definitely something I want on my agenda.

I think when you are first starting you need to start lower than this just to get some experience. Most freelance writing sites pay by the article and when I first started I made about $20 an hour but once you have experience for writing or blogging you can expect to make more.

I'm from Asia, and so we bloggers from outside the US who ghostwrite for others are paid measly sums (like $5 for a 400-word article!). I think it's ridiculous, even if the cost of living in my country is lower than COL in the US.

Problogging is the best job ever! I'm making more blogging than I was going to work 8 hours a day. I don't get paid what you ladies are making for your posts but I just love being able to stay home, choose my hours and write about things I love or want to learn more about! It's totally worth the work to get into the blogging world.
