I was recently asked if I have guest bloggers on my site. I've never done this before and now I'm considering hosting guest bloggers on occasion. I am wondering a few things though....

Do you have any tips and/or suggestions on how to manage guest blog postings?

Do you have a contract with them stating there's no compensation?

How regularly to you have guest bloggers?

What are the benefits/drawbacks of having guest bloggers?

Thanks in advance for your input and/or suggestions.

I have been approached by individuals to do guest posts for my blog. I usually review these individuals' previous work. Based on their body of work i decide whether or not they can write a guest posts for my blog.

Then, i normally give the blogger the topic. After the post is written, it is emailed to me for my approval. If i find the post acceptable, i would normally cut and paste it into my blog and schedule a publish date. The guest blogger is then emailed the schedule post date.

I normally allow my guest bloggers the chance to include their links. In my mind its a trade off. After all you get free content and they get free advertisement.

Marie and Antionette give great advice. I'd only add that you want to make sure that their content is relevant to your audience, if not you'll just piss off your readers by wasting their time.

How often do you post? I'd suggest that you go slow maybe have a guest post once per week. Have your guidelines, take a look at mine, http://goldasmith.com/contact/single-mommy-guest-blogger/.

Hope that helps.

The best tip I have is use guest bloggers who you personally connect with.  There are a ton of people that email with guest blogging offers out of the blue to write for my blog and their sites have nothing to do with my niche.  They want to write a topic for my niche but they want to promote a site/product outside of that niche. No thank you! LOL

You don't need contracts for guest bloggers.

I mostly have them a few times a month or when I'm traveling.

Benefits is I get fresh content and my readers get great info to read.

Hope this helps!

We use guest bloggers all the time. We have one a week. It is a fab way to get new content on your site and expose your work to a different audience.

I don't have a contract, but I have set guidelines and I always check the blogger out first. They must be a personal blogger and have a story and voice that suits my blog.

Here are my guidelines
