hmm I'm not sure. I think switching it up every once in a while is fun, but you don't want to change it too much! I like it when the overall design is constant but just one thing changes so it adds variety!

I'm new to all this so I am still learning lol. I am getting a custom design in a few weeks. I would prob keep my design until I get bored with it. I don't know how long that will be for me though I hate when things stay the same for a long time. Anyone who frequents my home will tell you that the furniture is rearranged each time they come lol. I'd say as long as you can put up with it. I stopped redesigning my blog. I put up the one I have up now and I'm only adding and subtracting from the sidebar. If I change it, I'll prolly change it again very soon. I'm anal like that.

I say change it until you are happy with the final result. It should remain easy to read and professiona without too much going on. I just recently changed my backround and header.

I agree with Michelle, change it until you are happy. You don't want to change it too much, because some readers may be used to navigating on your site and it may throw them off.

To me, that's a personal choice. If the design works for you and makes you smile, then keep it. If you need a change...then change!

I changed mine about 5 times in the first week. I finally found one that makes me smile.

Hey sweetie, I think if you've had it for a while it might be time for a change. I think people are used to mine and I plan on keeping it for a while. I might tweek something here or there but until I"m ready to change it, it will be there for a while

So many people have commented that they like the design on my review blog. But I'm now really tired of it and I'm so ready for a change. I've had it for almost three years now- since the day I started it. Plus, I don't like the fact that a lot of other blogs now have the same header image I have from IStockPhoto. I think I was the very first one who had it.

Anyway, I'm excited for the new changes which will be in a few weeks. I can't wait to have my new blog makeover! :)

So to answer your question, I would change it up at least once every year. Good if you have the know-how on designing blogs. If not, you just had to pay for someone to do it- just like I do. :)

I understand what you're saying about seeing your blogs header image on other sites. It definitely takes away the "branding" of your site. It's a perfect image, it's just that when you see it other places the uniqueness is gone.

So, new changes huh? If you're excited I'm excited to see them!

I've had the same layout on my main blog for about 3 years now. I plan to change the layout but keep the same header/color scheme. I felt that if I changed the whole thing dramatically, I'd suffer from an "identity crisis" in the blogosphere. :-)
