I have never sought sponsors but I have been approached by several. I have rejected all but one as their product /service does not mesh with my blog or it isn't something I'd want to recommend.

I have found that contacting companies directly and letting them know what you are doing and how it would benefit them as a company works great!

Hi Jessica. I have had a few companies contact me but I have been wanting to try contacting a few companies I'm interested in working with. I have a blog series in mind and want to fit the right products in with it. My problem is I just really do not know how to start out a letter or email. I don't want to copy someone elses word for word but I would like a general idea to base it on. Do you have any suggestions or even know where I could find an example. Any help at all would be so appreciated.

Tracy,

If you are going to cold pitch companies you just need to compose a pitch that tells the company what you are going to offer them. It can be as simple or drawn out as you would like.

What product do you like and why that one?
How is it going to fit with your feature?
What are your stats?
How will you be promoting it?

More or less they want to know what is in it for them. I would go with shorter versus longer because some companies get tons of pitches. It is totally up to you though.

I would also recommend checking out profnet, pitchrate and reporterconnection for other ways to get sponsors. All you have to do with those sites is send out your pitch for your event and the sponsors then contact you.

Right now we are also looking for bloggers to review the site and use Affiliate links to get paid for bringing new members. One thing we'd like to do is get a more ethnically diverse panel. If anyone knows of an African-american mom with high traffic/newsletter, have them contact me. We need to sign up a couple hundred more moms to complete surveys we have right now. Pay is $3 for signing up/completing a profile and $1 for each survey completed. We also offer a lot of bonuses - current ones are at www.questionmoms.com/promo.

I'm interested. I'm an African-American homeschool, blogger mom of four (7 months, 7 yrs, 9 yrs and 13 years old). I homeschool by day and am a fitness instructor a couple of nights a week. My blog is about health, wellness and family fitness.
